Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Monterra Credit Union Is Strengthening Your Account Security
At Monterra Credit Union, your security is our top priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to protect your account, we’re making an important change to how you verify your identity when accessing digital banking.
What’s Changing?
Beginning Tuesday, June 24, 2025, email will no longer be supported as a method for receiving your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) or One-Time Passcode (OTP). Instead, members will need to verify their identity using a more secure method—via text message (SMS) or phone call or 2FA Authenticator App.
This update is being made to better protect your account. Email is increasingly targeted by cybercriminals and is no longer considered a safe option for authentication.
What You’ll Need to Do:
- Make sure we have your current mobile number. You’ll receive your verification code by text message. If you don’t have a mobile number on file, a phone call can be used as a backup method.
- Verify your contact details. Please take a moment to confirm your mobile phone number and other contact information are accurate and up to date.
- Know the number: MFA codes from our Mobile Banking App will be sent from short code 67669.
- Setup optional 2FA Authenticator App: You can now setup a third party 2FA Authenticator app to use for MFA in your digital banking security settings. Some examples include: Authy, Duo, MS and Google authenticators.
Stay Safe:
For your protection, remember—never share your One-Time Passcode (OTP) with anyone. Monterra will never call or email asking for this code.
